Located in Kai county, Chongqing (Chongqing, China), the incontrollable accident well called “Luo Jia 2# well” belongs to PetroChina Southwest Oil&gas Field Company. “Kai county 3.25 gas blowout accident” happened on march 25th 2006, which resulted in the gas leakage accident and terrified the public.

Sichuan Guangya Polymer Chemical Co., Ltd. was invited to join in the plugging of “Luo Jia 2# well”, and then our experienced and professional construction team which was headed by academician Pingya Luo was built up.

1) Rescue progress
When the invitation was accepted, some traditional methods had been carried out as following:  
On March 21th 2006, plug well with HHH agent, but failed.
On March 22th 2006, plug well with bridge mud but failed.
On March 25th 2006, inject with cement slurry (49tons cement) but failed.
On March 27th 2006, inject with large scale cement slurry (186tons cement) but failed. Nearly, it was out of control.

2) The major problems
All the factors such as blowout and lost circulation in the same well zone, broken and crack of leakage zone, large amounts of water in leakage zone, big gas output in Fei xian guan (265×104m3/day), harsh plugging environment and high content of H2S resulted in the most complex problems in drilling history.
3) Plug well with “Smart Gel”   
Firstly, inject 500m3 of 1.5% ZND-2 solution. Secondly, implement 200m3 cement slurry inverse injection. Finally, shut down wells and wait for solidification. As a result, an unprecedented major technical problem and a great dangerous case were successfully solved.
