Guangya Gel Plugging Technology
Guangya Plugging Gel Series and the matching techniques, are aimed at solving the problems of large loss, loss of return or small return (leaking rate is higher than tens of cubic meters per hour) in cavern, fractured or broken zones, and the problems that the bridge plugging or PWD (plugging while drilling) could not solve. With its unique properties, the gel is easily to be pumped in with its shearing thinning property, but difficult to move again in the porous media after rest. The plugging is fulfilled through the principle that the start-up pressure of “gel slug” is greater than the pressure difference between the mud column pressure and the target formation pressure.
Fundamental characteristics research of ZND-2
(1) Viscosity and gel strength
The results showed that compared with another polymer (SNF3830), ZND-2 displayed excellent performances of viscosity and gel strength in the above test condition.
(2) Start-up pressure gradient in porous media
Fig. 3-4(a) demonstrated the start-up pressure gradient of ZND-2 at different permeability, and the test condition was as follows: test temperature (85°C), TDS (19,000mg/L), polymer concentration (0.5%).
Fig. 3-4(b) presented the start-up pressure gradient at different polymer concentration when the permeability is 10D.
The results showed that the start-up pressure of ZND-2 would be established in static condition, and it could move again when the flow pressure overcame the start-up pressure.
